The end of the shortest month

I love being a mom. I think God had to throw in things like diapers, spitup and crying so that all the Dads wouldn't be tempted to stay home too! Here's a fun little video from a drive home from CostCo. Siena was "singing" herself to sleep. It was so cute!

Our baby girl is growing up so fast! Though she's forgotten how to roll over (hasn't happened since her few flips at 4 months), she's getting to be a pretty good little baboon-sitter.

We finished up February with some fun things, including a visit from Uncle Andy on his way to Utah, an IM bowling tournament, meeting the Keefers' new pup, and riding in a swing for the first time! (Siena that is, not us.)

Andy stopped for dinner on his way to his new home in Utah to visit his favorite niece. Shiloh distracted him from the camera while trying to get Siena to smile, but instead she gave her best "thizz" face. ;)

Manor Park, at the end of our street, is going to be a great place to play when the weather warms up! (It's getting there!) Kelly and Bethany were taking their niños to play, so Siena and I tagged along.

Now on to March... the rains are subsiding, IMs are ending (for the quarter), and Siena has decided to enter into an early stage of separation anxiety. She gets pretty worked up if we have to leave her, but I think it makes Grammy and Poppy more anxious than anyone because they get stuck with a poor screaming baby and no remedy! Good thing IM season is coming to an end - nothing left but a girls' championship soccer game on Thursday!



Last weekend we went bowling with Charles and Katelyn Warne. We had a fun time... except for Shiloh, in the first game because I played the game of my LIFE! I was doing alright the whole time, but he was doing better. Then, in my last 4 frames, I bowled FIVE STRIKES IN A ROW! I won, 182 to his 178. It will probably never happen again, so I have to savor this time of gloating. ;)



We also took Siena to her first ever post-utero baseball game! Davis High battled Woodland High at Raley Field (Rivercats Stadium) in Sacramento. We were rooting for Davis High (of course) with Cody Keefer and Jeff Boulware batting 1 and 2. Here's Shiloh and Siena with proud Mama Keefer and Ganyo with the boys.

Last Sunday Siena and Zeke Armstrong were "dedicated" at the 10:30 service. Here's the crew with Pastor Glen Snyder.

Picture Memory

We were pretty bad at blogging this past month, so if we don't have a picture of it, it won't make a blog-post appearance.

Our favorite spot to eat is Lamppost , where the service is great, the food is high-quality and delicious, and the coupons are right on point. Mondays and Tuesdays you can get a second pizza for a dollar. Can't beat it. We went there for a romantic (in that it was Italian... Roman, get it?) Valentine's Day dinner. Sadly, that night was not photo-documented.

We also went there with the Armstrongs (the relative version and our friends Cob and Jenna) the other night... it was a Tuesday. :)

Basketball season ended quietly on February 20. While I really enjoy coaching, I also enjoy relaxing evenings at home with my girls. It's fun looking forward to what Siena might be doing when I arrive home. Here, she was obviously journaling and doing crossword puzzles... with her eyes covered by her beanie. She is quite the prodigy.



The Nicholsons came for a night, which was a treat. I didn't get to see them much because of work at the shelter and at the day job, but Dennis helped with some crosswords that have stumped Sam and I... and Siena...



Siena dressed accordingly...



Always one to tackle "impossible" projects, Dennis took apart our cupboards. These things were made with painstaking care by the previous owner in a fit of do-it-yourself-madness, but they made no sense. You pulled the cupboards out in pairs and we had a difficult time seeing (much less accessing) anything on the bottom of the bunk-bed-like drawers. No longer.



Aunt Katie doted lovingly on the babe...



And Chris went to town on the rose bushes, which were due for a trim.



Even "Luke the Workman" dropped in to lend a "helping" hand...



We think that Siena might be teething, because she likes chewing on her fingers and she continues to drool like a Mastiff pup...

Siena's latest trick is sitting up in the baby-lump tripod position. She has forgotten how to roll over, so this is her only trick for now...



Sam went out to do an errand in our '98 4Runner and, when she started the engine, it sounded like a drag racer. Sadly, someone crawled underneath our car and unbolted (and cut out) our catalytic converter. Our insurance company picked up most of the $2200 tab to get it replaced, but we had to pay $500 of it. Here is a shot of the end they cut off...

Look What I Can Do!

Today at 4:44p.m. Siena made some progress. She rolled over from her stomach to her back. I saw her start to "get it" and ran for the camera, but as I was moving to get a better angle, she flopped over and my stupid camera strap was in the way. So anyway, here's what I have:

Everybody loves Siena. Her parents love her. Her grandparents love her. Her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends... they ALL love her. Guess who else loves Siena? SIENA loves Siena. I was using a mirror to position her hat without covering up her eyes after I'd put her in the bjorn and THIS happened...
