It's been a loooong time since this has happened. I am all caught up on something. Most days I feel like I'm chasing that unattainable goal: All clean dishes. All folded and hung laundry. Informative and aesthetic scrapbooks. Perfectly manicured lawn. Kind, helpful, God-fearing adults who used to be my children.
It's going to be a loooong time before any of those are fully realized, but for now, my blog is up to date! Yahoo.
Yesterday was pool day #1 because summer has finally arrived. It was a blast! It's so fun to think (hope) my girls will look back on these summer days with their family and friends with a happy nostalgia...

Second Half Marathon...Almost
Last weekend I tried to run my second half marathon. It was, of course, raining on the fifth of June. Shiloh, the girls and I arrived at the Vacaville Lagoon at about 7am, ready to rumble. I should have been tipped off about the caliber of this race by the fact that the website had lots of typos, there was no course map to be heard of (for any of the 6+ races offered) and there were no speakers to announce the start, let alone time chips! Joe Friis and I ran together for a confused 12 miles, finishing after 1 hour and 35 minutes. Our friends Katelyn and Katie ran a completely different "half marathon" that same day. At the same place. Trying to run the same course. Hmm.
Well, we enjoyed ourselves more or less and ended up with a good, soggy workout!

Jarva #2
Memorial Day shared its celebration this year with our good friends the Jarvises (or the Jarvi, as we call them). We have many fond memories with the Jarvi, especially from the years we lived together in "the commune" with them and cousin Dan. This was, of course, pre-children. Now we are racing each other to see who can have a boy baby first. ;) So far we're both 0-2.
Here she is, the cutest new addition to the Jarvis clan: Katelyn Jean

Congratulations, Jarvi!
So long Gottschalks, hello Forever 21
May 11: Sometimes when life gives you lemons... you have to make lemonade. When the U-Mall decides to replace the spacious entrance to now-bankrupt Gottschalks with an uppity, shiny, music playing Forever 21...you have to have dance parties and naps right in the doorway. No, it was not our idea. Yes, we did allow our toddlers to do it. We were here first! ;)
May 12: Living near a university has its perks, like the Bohart Bug Museum! Bethany was inspired by all the departments touting the wares on Picnic Day, realizing that each building on that beautiful sprawling campus has its on little gem to offer our Fun Field Trip Fridays.
May 13: More strawberry picking never hurt anyone. Siena took a HUGE spill off her Skuut earlier that morning and wanted to show off the battle wounds.
May 15: FBC Davis sent teams out around town to help out as part of their "iCare too" service event. We were at Davis High where Shiloh did garden work, Siena "helped" and Sofia and I took pictures.
May 15 Cont.: Later in the afternoon we finished off the UC Davis Whiffleball Palooza.Shiloh's men's team brought home the bacon, but our coed team choked in the last inning...
May 17: Sofia hit the 6-month mark and we ventured into the realm of solid (read: smashed or regurgitated) food. She can NOT get enough. Bananas, sweet potatoes, edamame, yolo berry, strawberries (don't tell the doc), avocado, crackers, Burgers and Brew, yogurt, cheese...
May 19: We hung out at the Hollemans and BBQed before checking out Celebrate Davis at Community Park - a city event with business booths, food, Gunrock (ucd mascot) and fireworks.
May 22: Sunday was another day of chaos as we finished up the rest of the sports. We came out with few victories (both softballs and men's football) and a few losses (corec football and soccer) but overall had a fun season.
May 27: Our frequent routine of Starbucks Coffee sipping and Orchard Park playing was make even better with the addition of birthday cookies and fruit for our dear from Oliver turning 2!
May 28: Kelly came to visit! We celebrated first with Sophia's Thai Kitchen (YUM).
May 29: To end this post, here are some shots from a Sunday BBQ at Grammy's house.
Born December 20th, Elliott Holleman puts Sofia to shame. He rolls. He crawls. He wiggles. He smiles coyly at pretty girls.
Forever 21 is SO fun and exciting. Just look at Oliver's face!
Snack break.

Even better than looking at bugs is riding the bus to campus to find them.
"What could be better than this?!?!"
Just off the Unitrans bus, we're on our way!
Bird's-eye-view.
We knew we were getting close when we found a trail of bug impressions in the concrete...
If I ever found a cockroach this big in my house, I would evacuate Davis immediately.

Luke was appropriately impressed.

Note: Do NOT sacrifice naps for the sake of playing IM sports. Nobody is happier for it!
Hayley, home briefly from Texas, was our biggest fan.
Siena would have been our biggest fan, but she was preoccupied wrapping herself up in blankets and pretending to be a baby. It was COLD.
When she wasn't in her cocoon, Siena spent a lot of time taking sunflower seed bribes from Jeremy in exchange for smooches. This does not bode well for her future. ;)
Anytime Benny Burtt comes to town to play IMs with us, we are very happy.
Winners!

Sean and Mary live in a great location for watching the bustling life of Davis right across from DHS. Snacks, swing, bench, watering can, giant cardboard box... what more could a front yard offer?
Walking across the street to find the festivities/free stuff and who did we find...
Gunrock! Wahoo! (Right?)
Nope. We do NOT like Gunrock this close up.
After dinner we went to finish off our ultimate frisbee season. Once again, Shiloh came home with a tee-shirt and I did not. :( This whole mom-thing is cramping my intramural style. ;)
May 22: Sunday was another day of chaos as we finished up the rest of the sports. We came out with few victories (both softballs and men's football) and a few losses (corec football and soccer) but overall had a fun season.
Soccer
Our fan club was HUGE for football and we didn't even care about the loss (very much anyway) - the sidelines were way more fun!
Softball

It's not her party. She shouldn't be crying.
At least they were on the same page.
TWO
This rope ladder used to scare me to death. (Slight exaggeration.) Now that Siena can climb, however, I barely mind it! Good job Sienabug!
All this playing makes us tired. Nap time!
May 28: Kelly came to visit! We celebrated first with Sophia's Thai Kitchen (YUM).
At Central Park. Sofia, thankfully, loves Shiloh even at this pupal stage of her life. How cute are they together?!?!
Which of these is not like the others?
Here Justin is trying to convince Siena that Happy Feet is "broken." She wasn't buying it.
It was a double-feature: Mega Mind and Despicable Me. Siena and Nat are ITZ.
May 29: To end this post, here are some shots from a Sunday BBQ at Grammy's house.
Not mine!
Cutest ABCs duet, ever.
I think Siena is on "C"... and Sarah is dancing her little heart out!
Multi-tasking
Gouda burger. Mmm.
New princess shirt and skirt from Grammy. I hope she'll take it off someday... ;)
