Seventeen Months

Today, Siena turned 17 months old, and it couldn't have been a better day. The sun came out, right smack in the middle of February! We biked to church, ate out for lunch, took too many pictures of our baby girl in overalls, and ended the night with Bible study/cookie decorating/eating. A great day!

Yesterday, Shiloh and I dropped off Siena at the Armstrongs and went out to dinner to celebrate the end of the DHS JV basketball (winning) season!

Last week I started coaching WCHS soccer.

Beyond that...

My memory is not great, so I rely on pictures to summarize anything farther back than last week. Here you go!

January 25 - Despite lots of rain in Davis, Siena and I took lots of walks sporting her "new" rain coat.

January 31 - I promised Shiloh I would squeeze oranges if he would pick them for me, so we have been enjoying lots of fresh-squeezed OJ!

February 1 - This has become Siena's new favorite perch.

February 1 - Mary Holleman and I like to get our Starbucks fix and then "bob" our babies and walk around campus while they sleep. We often sit awhile to enjoy the first sips while Ollie and Siena play in the should-be-playground of the old Gottschalks entrance.

February 2 - Fashion faux pas: Siena and Hannah Robbins showed up to the WOW nursery wearing the same pants. Redeeming fact: neither of them noticed. (Here, Hannah wonders what on earth Siena is doing. Siena is taking a short nap after retrieving abandoned cheerios from under the table.)

February 3 - The last DHS home game. Can you find Shiloh on the bench? Luke is veeeery into basketball these days. Siena is more into harassing her cousin.

February 5 - When I try ignoring Siena at home, for the sake of my poor husband who has to live with a fairly messy house and frequent dinners of cold cereal, I often find her busying herself with emptying drawers all over the floor. Paper, pens, clothes, q-tips, etc.

February 7 - I was rooting for the Colts. They lost. However, I was so busy shoving my face with tasty food made by Ben and Katie Reece or rescuing babies from Hamlet and Jacoby that I didn't shed any tears for the losing team.

February 8 - Shiloh gets up early every day to drive an hour to get to work. Some days he gets up WAY early to go meet some guy friends for hot beverages and conversation. Sometimes, Siena and I get up to push daddy out the door. On this particular morning, I was amused by Siena's hair and felt a need to document Ruby's growth.

February 8 - This same day, Mary and I drove out to Folsom where Jen had planned a fun craft for the kiddos to do: Valentines! It didn't go as smoothly as planned (the babies thwarted our plans), but we still had a lot of time with our friends!

Febreary 12 - This was a big day. Friday. A Fun Field Trip Friday. (Bethany, amazing lady that she is, organizes weekly fun field trips for all her mommy friends.) Siena couldn't decide what to wear. First she opted for her birthday suit. When she realized it was rain/misting, she tried on her boots. In the end, she stuck with comfort.

February 12 - FFTF: Bus Ride to PetCo and Jamba Juice. We had a blast! See photosobello.smugmug.com for more pictures.

February 14 - Overalls. Handmade by Grammy (Kim) Sorbello when Sarah (Shiloh's big sister) was young enough to wear them. She took a cute picture in them and it became a Sorbello family tradition to take a photo shoot in the overalls, which are now ~33 years old! Shiloh's picture is below, followed by Siena's turn wearing the overalls!

February 14 - After the photo shoot, we crossed the street to the Armstrongs'. Shiloh gave Luke a hair cut while Siena played in the sandbox with Zeke.

Happy Valentine's Day!

16 Months

Siena is 16 months old! (And 6 days)

I'm always in awe of moms who can fluidly generalize their kids habits ('she takes one nap a day', 'he sleep 8 hours straight!,' 'she's a daddy's girl', 'he loves broccoli', etc.) because every time I think I understand our daughter, she changes her mind! Before I can even record my observations, mozzarella cheese is out('cheddar is better now'), new teeth (#10 and 11!) ruin the one (sigh) 8-hour night thus far, weaning is out the window for a week because I came down with something very similar to H1N1 and wanted to pass along antibodies, etc. That being said, here's what we know about Siena, right now, right this minute, until she wakes up in a few hours and does something new:

She weights 25 lbs (72nd percentile).
She is 2'10" (97th percentile).
Her head is 18.5" in circumference (72nd percentile).

She likes...*

Peek-a-boo.

To give kisses. To babies, to daddy, sometimes to mommy, and ALWAYS to her best friend "Roooob." Below, brand new baby Colton's nap is interrupted with a big ol' Siena smooch.

To push Aunt Katie in her wheelchair. Siena LOVES when the Nicholsons come to visit!

To pick her nose.

To feed herself. Mom, please take your hands off my spoon, or yes, I will have a tantrum. (And Dad, you'd better get used to it - I'm messy!)

Dogs. (She climbed in there and closed the door all on her own, I promise!)

To exhibit sass. Nothing says 'sass' like turquoise spandex and brown, fuzzy-tasseled boots. Siena has a STRONG will.

To color with a "pEH-nuh." Sometimes on her easel, sometimes on her shirt, and sometimes...

"Bah-bos."We are slowly weaning Siena in hopes of baby number 2, but she really likes her babos. :) If she can't get them from mommy, she tries elsewhere. (Sorry, Kindall.)

To take baths. Usually they are a lot of fun. Below, however, Siena is giving mommy a very concerned look. Why? Ruby comes to check it out as Siena is high-tailing it out of the tub. Why? Check out the second picture...

And on that note, we'll say goodnight!

*Siena likes lots of things. Like her cousins, aunts, uncles, grammy, poppy, grandma, grandpa, broccoli, belly-buttons, books, dancing, and so on, but this list is just the stuff I have recent pictures of, so take no offense, poor, neglected, uncaptured belly buttons...
