June FLEW

How did June fly by so fast? The weather has finally turned warm (read: HOT), reaching 104 yesterday. On a typical day, once the nighttime breeze has died away, we retreat inside, only to reemerge for trips to the pool or in our car with A/C.

Early June was uncharacteristically cool, and, on the 6th, Mary and Oliver Holleman walked through the UCD Arboretum with Siena and I. Mary and I used to walk a LOT... and then our babies started getting wiggly. :)

Feeding the ducks is prohibited, but they realize that the chances of a toddler dropping some morsels is pretty high.

Ollie is a MOVER. Mary stays close by in case he tries to jump into Putah Creek. (Ew.)

June 3: Siena had begun to feel some sandbox envy because the Armstrong boys (cousins) spend tons of time using theirs. I convinced Grandpa and Grandma to come up for a visit (not a hard feat), and Grandma played happily with Siena while Grandpa and I converted one end of my veggie garden into a sandy paradise.

Shiloh often comes home on a Grandparent-Thursday to find a new something in the yard or house. This time we weren't quite done so he helped Grandpa empty the last of the sand. (We could only buy ten bags at a time because our 4Runner is a bit of a lightweight.)

Add ten more bags, sand toys, awning, and "Grandma's Chair" and we're in business!

June 7: When the sandbox gets too hot, head to the pool. (Preferably in your cute new suit that Kindall and Melissa bought for you - with matching sunglasses.)

Because early June was still cool, the babies (and their mamas) didn't last too long in the chilly water.

When Siena was still hairless and frequently labeled a "cute little boy," I bought many many supplies for making cute and frilly bows. Now that Siena has hair (read AFRO), she does not like having things stuck in it. I'm hoping for the days when she'll enjoy bows and flowers again, but, alas, it is not here. Still, I bribed her to keep pig-tails in her hair for about 20 minutes on June 9.

On June 11, we drove to Fairy Tale Town in Sacramento with Armstrongs and Aunt Sarah to watch a puppet show. The kids didn't like the show very much. It was either too scary, too boring, or just too long. However, they did enjoying traipsing about the "town" checking out the fun statues, trains, tractors, boats, etc.

She looks happy, but was whining "my turn" two second before, because she felt Luke had had two seconds too long on his turn. (Oh my, almost TWO!)

Sarah is still a kid at heart. She played as hard as the cousins!

After a quick lunch at Taco Bell with Uncle Richie, the three cousins conked out on the way home.

The weekend of the 12th we went to Atherton. Siena hadn't seen Laura in a long while, so they got reacquainted in the pool. (Note the cows in each hand - Siena goes nowhere without them, bed included.)

Shiloh felt that this was a good weekend to see if Ruby could swim. She can. But she doesn't like it!

We all went to Country Gourmet for my "birthday" dinner. While Mom and Katie were trying to capture Siena antics on camera, almost everyone else pulled out their i-somethings. :)

June 14: Baby bump turns 17 weeks. Mama turns 27. Yikes! Old!

This is our family of almost four in Grammy and Poppy's yard. Happy as can be.

I'm smiling, but this was my least favorite part of the party. Everyone looking at me! Awkward!

June 16th's booty: berries and apricots from Impossible Acres.

Cody Keefer just finished his first year at UCLA, where he plays baseball. UCLA made it to the College World Series in Omaha, NE. Kindall has been holding down the Keefer's fort in Davis, so we've spent a lot of time at her house watching baseball. Go Bruins! (sad news: lost in the championships on Tuesday night....)

...but gets a little grossed out when he pukes on her. :)

The 2000 Saab that my parents gifted us with a few years ago finally met its end. Well, for us anyway. We used it and loved it well, but it was getting too expensive to fix. I was charged with "making it look pretty" on the 22nd and invited the kids to help me wash the car. It was finally HOT so they wore their "sun hats." I couldn't actually find the right ones for L&Z, but these were pretty cool. :)

June 23: Bye-bye Saab (sold it to the dealer for $3500), hello 2010 (manual) Hyundai Sonata! Shiloh LOVES his new car.

Shiloh also loves when Siena walks him out in the morning, carrying his Bob the Builder lunchbox. She often reports "too heavy" but manages to carry it anyway.

June 26: Nate Moroski was home for one, full day after his Thailand trip to see Will and before his third year of med school in South Carolina. His family hosted a BBQ (SO TASTY) with some old friends and we had a great time hanging out.

Cathie and Emmie made the cake-of-all-cakes - 4 layers of chocolate on chocolate! WOW. It was gooood.

Happy people eating happily.

Hana became one of Luke's new BFFs. She played and played and PLAYED!

June 27: Put on your hard hats - you are entering a contruction zone! (Or the pool... they look strikingly similar.) At the Armstrongs', the fun never ends!

June 28: eggs for breakfast.

Colt came over to play while Kindall visited the dentist, and Siena was a HAPPY babysitter!

Shiloh stayed home on Tuesday the 29th because we had our ultrasound appointment, where we found out the gender of our new baby! After a tasty Taco Bell lunch, we went to the pool!

After the pool we went to Kindall's to watch baseball. Kindall made festive blue and yellow cupcakes.

Siena wanted to eat them all!

It was a long day of fun for Siena. She played with friends in the morning, napped at Grammy's, swam, ate cupcakes, and ZONKED out on Shiloh while he gave her "rubs."
