Wednesday, Sam and Siena took a trip to see Dr. Rivera in Roseville. They spent about half an hour attaching and reattaching probes to Siena's chest, arms, and legs for an EKG. She kept flailing and kicking them off because she was hungry. Dr. Rivera had good things to say about Siena's heart:
- everyone starts with a hole between the top two chambers (but most close by now)
- the two holes between the pumping (bottom) chambers are really small
- the sound was different (better) than he expected - a sort of muffled sound
- 50% chance all holes close within 2 years
- another EKG will be taken in 6 months
- an echocardiogram will be done to confirm the holes have closed once we can't hear them anymore
Even if the holes don't close all the way, the main concern would be possible infection, but Dr. Rivera said it probably wouldn't keep her from activity, sports, etc.
In her car seat for a 40-minute drive to Roseville. She was a good baby.
Siena weighed in at 8 lbs 9.8 oz - but she was wearing her onesie and diaper, so she's probably a little over 8 pounds now.
She lounged on the table for awhile after the appointment.
Thursday, Sam and Siena came to work with me in Marysville... the ladies (and my boss, Steve) got lots of snuggle time as Sam watched some of the trial I'm doing.
Here are some shots of Siena as she kicked it old skool at/on his desk...
Watch before you sit!
We were advised as we walked out of the ARC (Activities and Recreation Center at UCD) last week that babies (up to 18 years old!) were not allowed in the ARC. We didn't want to leave baby by herself at home or in the car, so we decided to smuggle her in...
Part 1: The Plan
Part II: Mission Accomplished
Quick video of some volleyball action... we won.

Sam! I never knew you were a baby smuggler. Wowie. :) I guess you ended up going unnoticed? -Julie
I think smuggling in extra toes could cause your team to forfeit. Awfully cute contraband, there...
yes we made the blog! :) this pic must have been before the meltdown....I also never knew you were babysmugglers.
These are the cutest videos!!! I love how Siena is so oblivious and is happy just sleeping away :)
How will Siena ever make it in the world, given the criminal genes she has inherited?
At least Siena has a lawyer in the family. And at least the documents on Shiloh's desk were marked "Draft" in yellow post-its, given the blow-out propensity of tiny humans with big onesies.
Speaking of tiny, she's not so tiny anymore. Hurray for the 8 lbs! She looks great.
Maybe she'll grow up to be a defense attorney. :)
either way, she'd better learn how to argue if she's going to survive with you as a dad!
too hilarious with her hand covering her head inside the bag...
I wish I was as committed to physical activity! LOL!
Technically, some freshman are still 17 and they get to use the ARC...so why the discrimination against Siena??
